NATIONAL LIQUOR LICENCES

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF NATIONAL LICENCES:

  • Distributor - sells/distributes into the licensed trade only, irrespective of volumes.
  • Manufacturer - manufacturing above the prescribed volume thresholds of alcohol per annum.
  • Both distributor and manufacturer

A manufacturer registers with the National Liquor Authority only if the manufacturing thresholds are met. They are:

  • For the manufacture of beer, 100 million litres per year;
  • For the manufacture of Traditional African Beer, 50 million litres per year;
  • For the manufacture of wine, 4 million litres per year; and
  • For the manufacture of spirits and/or any other liquor, 2 million litres per year.
